Biological control without ground damage

We offer precision application of beneficial nematodes by drone, providing an effective biological control solution where ground access is limited, soils are wet, or surface damage must be avoided. This service is particularly suited to turf, golf courses, parks, and other sensitive areas.

Nematodes require moist conditions and sufficient water to move through the soil and reach their target pests. Drone application allows accurate placement without wheel marks or compaction, timed to coincide with rainfall events or irrigation to ensure optimal performance.

Turf & Golf Courses - Leatherjacket Control

Leatherjackets (crane fly larvae) can cause severe turf damage, especially on greens, fairways, tees, and sports pitches.

Our drone-based application is ideal:

  • When ground conditions are too wet for machinery
  • Where zero surface damage is essential
  • When rain is forecast shortly after application, or irrigation is available to wash nematodes into the soil

By applying nematodes without driving on the turf, we help protect playing surfaces while ensuring treatments are delivered at the right time, when larvae are active and conditions are favourable.

Vine Weevil Control

Drone application of nematodes is also suitable for vine weevil larvae control in:

  • Ornamental plantings
  • Nurseries and landscaped areas
  • Vineyards and orchards

As with turf applications, success depends on:

  • Adequate moisture
  • Rainfall or irrigation shortly after application
  • Correct timing to target the soil-dwelling larval stage

This approach is particularly valuable where traditional equipment would cause rutting, compaction, or disruption.

Oak Processionary Moth (OPM) – Sensitive Environments

In parks, estates, and public spaces, we can apply nematodes as part of oak processionary moth management, targeting larvae present on the trunk and inside the tree crown.

Drone application offers clear advantages:

  • No climbing or access equipment
  • Reduced risk to operatives and the public
  • Deep penetration into the crown
  • Precise treatment of affected trees
  • Suitable for recreational, and environmentally sensitive sites

This method supports integrated pest management (IPM) strategies where chemical options are restricted or undesirable.
